Philosophy of Care

We see children as unique and capable individuals, who come to our centre with their own interests, talents, skills, and ideas. We know that each child must feel loved, valued and supported in order to achieve and thrive. We feel children have a right to be active participants in their own learning and must be empowered to express their views and ideas. A child’s opinion must be valued for its validity to their perspective and their autonomy and initiative needs to be respected. This is why we empower children and assist them to make choices which encourage success and positive self-esteem.

We believe Play is children’s window to the world. Play enhances every aspect of children’s development and learning. Play forms the foundation of cognitive, social, physical and emotional skills is necessary for success in school and in life and fosters creativity and flexibility in thinking. We foster each child’s sense of Being (living in the moment, the here and now, self-discovery and enjoyment for learning), Becoming (their true potential, imagination and discovery of self) and Belonging (to be proud of their background, family, culture, community and become responsible, compassionate global citizen).

Our goal is to provide a safe, healthy and supportive environment that understands respects, responds to and nurtures each child’s uniqueness. We are committed to create this environment in partnership with parents to develop a sense of belonging. Interactions between people are extremely important and children, parents and educators must cooperate and communicate on different issues and problems to be able to solve them. We offer ourselves as resources for families about child growth and learning, and see families as resources about their children’s culture context, passions, and developmental journeys.

Our staff are entitled to a work environment which is free from discrimination and harassment as well as physical and emotional well-being. They also receive comprehensive ongoing professional development to stay current with the unique needs of young children and their families. As an early childhood educator, they strive to model respect, patient, and care for children and adults they meet.

We believe to value in partnership with community. Community has a right to cooperate and to be included in our different programs.
