Philosophy of Care

We see children as unique and capable individuals, who come to our centre with their own interests, talents, skills, and ideas. We know that each child must feel loved, valued and supported in order to achieve and thrive. We feel children have a right to be active participants in their own learning and must be empowered to express their views and ideas. A child’s opinion must be valued for its validity to their perspective and their autonomy and initiative needs to be respected. This is why we empower children and assist them to make choices that encourage success and positive self-esteem. 

We believe Play is a children’s window to the world. Play enhances every aspect of children’s development and learning. Play forms the foundation of cognitive, social, physical and emotional skills is necessary for success in school and in life and fosters creativity and flexibility in thinking. We foster each child’s sense of Being (living in the moment, the here and now, self-discovery and enjoyment for learning), Becoming (their true potential, imagination and discovery of self) and Belonging (to be proud of their background, family, culture, community and become responsible, compassionate global citizen).
